HISTORY

1998, was a year of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding.  It was about growth and development.  Unknowingly our lives would take a change.  An allegiance would be formed, some would follow suit others would be left behind.  Prime (Lorenzo Sam), Intox-icated (Jeffrey Andersen), and Blitz Krieg (Christopher Brown) were this allegiance.  And it would be known as "TRI-COAST".  Three young playahs from three different coasts were able to comprise their thoughts on paper, and then unleash them through music.  "It was all a dream".  For  two years it was slowly becoming a reality, the first release, "Tha Drunk Drivin EP" was an underground ghetto success.  Different playahs walk different paths so   in 2000, Blitz Krieg began to walk his own.  Prime and Intox-icated were left with 2/3 of a dream and that was not a problem.  A little focus and some new equipment and the "Triple Coast Compilation" was released.  We didn’t feel ready just yet, so very few ears heard that musical creation.

2002, was a year of adaptation and rebuild.  Nonstop (Eric Hughes) introduced himself to Tri-coast; a native of Georgia his track record is in a class of its own spitting witty east coast favor with a southern feel.  Intox-icated, Prime, Nonstop, and T-Roy (Our Manager at the time) all sat down and discussed the future of this allegiance.  After long debates and numerous conversations a change of name was established.  No longer would we be known as "TRI-COAST" we would forever be known as "Playahs Paradise Entertainment" better known as "PPE".  At this time PPE consisted of three artists and a manager.  So, now that we had a new name and a new structure we needed a new product.  With more focus and more equipment upgrades, trials and tribulations, blood, sweat, and tears - PPE emerged with the first album release "Volume 1: Collateral Damage".  They were performing songs at small bars, parties, and also selling albums out the trunk to gain exposure; PPE sold enough copies from this album to incorporate and expand from a small group of individuals with ideas into a unified company with goals.

In 2003, year of the real, three well-experienced artists/producers stepped onto the PPE train, Vokab (Christopher Clemons), Lethal (Joseph Billups), and Dane (Reginald Thomas). Vokab is from New Jersey and has been in the game laying down tracks for Jersey underground artists.  Lethal, is a Floridian native and a veteran in the game, he laid down multiple albums at other independent labels.  Dane would become the prominent producer for PPE and eventually a part of the PPE Regime.  After everybody seeing the dedication in each other, all these playahs sat down and decided to join forces.  PPE has been through several ups and downs but through it all they still can handle business on a real level because they know the streets and are the voice of the game.

From 2004 until now PPE has had various album releases to include: “The Victims of the Game”, “Solo Sglo”, and “3UP Warriorz”.  It will always be fun for PPE to do music; PPE is mature and serious about making important decisions toward a common goal of success, it’s all business!  Playahs Paradise Entertainment LLC, 04/26/04, embedded between Baltimore and D.C. consisting of 4 owners, Intox-icated, Prime, Nonstop, Dane; along with a roster of artists and producers.  10 years strong PPE to the death!

-Inspiration To Stay Independent-

People don't understand that you could be a big star signed to a major, on the radio and BET, and still be broke.

"A lotta major label artists are not living anything like how their videos show them livin.  I see these cats, they're just as broke as the next.  The percentage they get for every record they sell is very little.  It's like this, I'd have to sell 10 times the amount of records on a major label to make the same money on my own label.  If I sell 50,000 records on an independent label I make the same amount of money if I sold 500,000 with a major.  Do you have a better chance of sellin 50,000 or 500,000?  You can't eat gold and platinum plaques.  They call it the music business, it's about making money."

"A quote by Cedric Singleton, CEO Black Market Records"
